What is the difference between Low Level Waste (LLW) and Intermediate Level Waste (ILW)? 

LLW contains enough radioactive material to require action for the protection of people, but not so much that it requires shielding during handling, storage or transportation.  ILW requires shielding for personal protection but generates minimal heat.
