2009

AANSS 2009
The 8th AINSE/ANBUG Neutron Scattering Symposium , 7 - 9 December, was opened by AINSE Managing Director, Dr Dennis Mather. Over a three day period 39 papers and 42 posters were presented. 90 delegates from 21 universities and insitutions attended the symposium.

NCTA 2009
The 2009 Nuclear and Complementary Techniques of Analysis Conference, 25 - 27 November, 2009 at Lucas Heights was opened by ANSTO CEO, Dr Adi Paterson. Over the three day period 34 papers and 62 posters were presented. 85 delegates from 23 Universities and institutions attended the conference.

Scoping Workshop 2009 for new guides, instruments and sample-environment apparatus at OPAL. 27 - 28 August 2009 at ANSTO, Sydney, Australia.

For Australian and New Zealand university attendees AINSE will support travel and accommodation for up to two from each member university.

National XRD Workshop will be held in Perth at Curtin University of Technology, 22 - 25 August, 2009. The course is for new powder people who wish to progress towards becoming proficient in Reitveld analysis of data for materials characterisation purposes. As in past years the presenters are Professor Brian O'Connor and Dr Rob Hart. The course fee is $ 2090 including GST and there are 10 places available.

AONSA Conference, Lucas Heights, August 2009, incorporating the Neutron Winter School (Nanotechnology) and the 3rd Powder Diffraction School 2009 at AINSE, Lucas Heights 16-22 August. Participants of AINSE members institutions are eligible for reimbursement of travel costs.

ICNS2009 International Conference on Neutron Scattering - ICNS 2009, May 3 - 7, 2009, Knoxville, Tennessee. Sponsored by the Neutron Scattering Society of America (NSSA) and hosted by Oak Ridge National Laboratory, the conference showcased recent scientific results in neutron science spanning a wide range of fields. Symposium on Magnetism and Neutron Scattering, AINSE, 20 April 2009. Dr Trevor Hicks has been a central figure in Australian magnetism and neutron scattering for many years and a key figure in the development of neutron scattering in Australia.
