Mr Twining is an environmental biologist within the Isotrans and Isotopes for Water Projects. He started work as a technician in 1975 and is now a Senior Professional Officer specialised in radioecology and the biological evaluation of environmental impact. He developed the AQUARISK computer code for Ecological Risk Assessment and is Australia’s Chief Scientific Investigator on an IAEA research program entitled "Nuclear Science for Sustainable Development in the Coastal Zone". He has over 50 publications and reports on a variety of environmental and radiological issues and is the current President of the South Pacific Environmental Radioactivity Association.
