Radioecology

The aquatic radioecology laboratories are temperature controlled and are equipped with flow-through experimental tanks for radiotracer work. As well as marine water storage tanks there is storage for large quantities of custom-made freshwaters to suit site-specific chemical conditions. The facility has filtered air, pH controllers and instrumentation to measure, for example, the temperature, conductivity, salinity, dissolved oxygen, redox potential and turbidity of the experimental water. Beta scintillation counting and gamma spectroscopy are also available.
