ANSTO Tours

ANSTO welcomes visitors to the site and free tours can be customised to your group's specific needs. You will be guided throughout the tour by education officers who explain clearly the many aspects of nuclear science. Our education officers will answer any questions and discuss issues that are of interest to you. A number of free publications are also available at the end of the tour.

Community Tours

  • Tours are available Monday to Friday for groups of 12 or more.
  • Tours are available for individuals and small groups on the first Saturday of every month.  The deadline for Saturday tour bookings is the Wednesday prior to the tour.
  • Monday to Saturday tours commence at 10 am and 2 pm.
  • Tours are of two hours duration

School Tours

School tours are designed to meet syllabus outcomes and aim to enhance students' understanding of nuclear science. ANSTO education officers will tailor the tour to meet teacher needs. Teachers will be able to choose which facilities to visit and the specific areas of nuclear science you would like covered. A range of free teacher and student resources are available.

Tour security requirements:

As ANSTO is a highly secure Commonwealth Protected site there are special security requirements for visitors:

  •  Bookings must be made in advance
  •  ID details must be provided at least three days before your tour
  •  On the day of your tour, adults must provide contact details, licence (or other identification) number and photo identification
  •  Visitors are not able to take any unauthorised photographic devices, including mobile phones with cameras or other recording equipment, weapons, firearms, explosives, alcohol, animals or containers with volatile liquids on site.
  •  Bags may not be taken on site
  •  Prams or strollers may not be taken on site
  •  Lockers are available at reception for visitor use for handbags and other valuables.
