Specialist Areas
AINSE Specialist Committees
AINSE specialist committees give a strong focus in the following disciplines by providing ongoing advice on research, evaluation of applications for AINSE awards, and review of progress reports.
Archaeology and Geosciences Committee
Applications in this area would be expected to advance knowledge in any of the branches of archaeology or geosciences. Applications may be made for AMS studies or PIXE/PIGE characterisation of materials to support the aims of the project.

| Dr Sean Ulm | University of Queensland |
| Dr Jamie Shulmeister | University of Queensland |
| Dr Paul Hesse | Macquarie University |
| Dr David Fink | ANSTO |
| Dr Quan Hua | ANSTO |
Biomedical Science and Biotechnology Committee
Applications in this area would be expected to support research into diagnostic and therapeutic nuclear medicine, radiobiology, experimental radiation oncology, and radiation effects on biological materials.
| Dr Michael Hay - Convenor | University of Auckland |
| Professor Michael Davies | University of Sydney |
| A/Professor Michael Kassiou | University of Sydney |
| A/Professor Laurence Gahan | University of Queensland |
| Professor Les Copeland | University of Sydney |
| Dr Andrew Katsifis | ANSTO |
| Dr Ivan Greguric | ANSTO |
Environmental Sciences Committee
Applications in this area would be expected to be concerned with understand problems based in environmental science. This could include dating using 210Pb, and 14C, and the analysis of natural processes, and experiments on organic or inorganic materials, or the biota.
| Professor Eric Bestland - Convenor | Flinders University |
| Professor David Bowman | University of Tasmania |
| Dr Scott Nichol | Geoscience Australia |
| Professor Peter Gell (c) | University of Ballarat |
| Dr Dioni Cendon Sevilla | ANSTO |
| Dr Andrew Smith | ANSTO |
Materials - Structures and Dynamics Committee
Applications in this area would be expected to involve the study of the structure of materials at an atomic or molecular level involving instruments including x-ray scattering and reflectometry and electron microscopy.
| Dr Chris Ling - Convenor | University of Sydney/ANSTO |
| Professor Anton Middelberg (c) | University of Queensland |
