AINSE Ltd (AINSE) facilitates access to the special facilities at Lucas Heights by universities and other tertiary institutions and provides a focus for cooperation in the nuclear scientific and engineering fields. AINSE arranges for the training of scientific research workers and the award of scientific research studentships in matters associated with nuclear science and engineering.
The AINSE Trust
The purpose of the AINSE Trust, established in 2008, is to provide scholarships and fellowships for Australian students and researchers who are participating in AINSE programs. The Trust is a Deductible Gift Recipient Body. Donations, gifts and bequests larger than $2 are tax deductible. We ask friends of AINSE to consider making a donation to the Trust.
| Honours Scholarship Program The AINSE Honours Scholarship program is a new initiative at AINSE aimed at supporting excellent students and research projects. The Scholarship includes a stipend of $5000 as well as facility access fees and a travel and accommodation budget.
AINSE will be providing 10 Honours Scholarships.
If you are interested in applying for an Honours Scholarship, your supervisor must submit an application for an AINSE Research Award by 15 September 2010. The form is now up on our web site. Unfortunately applications from students whose Supervisor has not submitted an AINSE Research Award application by this date cannot be considered.
The application form asks for the names of research students that will be involved with the project, and your name should be followed by the words 'Honours Student'.
If the Research Award application is selected for support, AINSE will ask your supervisor, in December, to forward a certified copy of your academic transcript for consideration. Evaluation of applications for the scholarships will be based primarily on academic record. AINSE Postgraduate Research Awards AINSE has just announced 21 new scholarships for 2010. AINSE currently supports 77 Post Graduation Research Award (PGRA) scholars as part of its remit to support education and training in nuclear science and engineering. Most of the new scholarships are, therefore, top-up scholarships for PhD students who have a need to access ANSTO instruments. AINSE also awarded a scholarship to a student who will be using the nuclear fusion facility at the Australian National University, and one to a student who will be conducting experiments at ISIS in the United Kingdom.
