Specialist Crystallography at the Advanced Photon Source (SCrAPS)

scraps_cut_border

The Australian Synchrotron Research Program's SCrAPS scheme facilitates the determination of crystal structures from micro-crystals, using synchrotron X-ray diffraction data collected at the ChemMatCARS facility at the Advanced Photon Source. ChemMatCARS is an ANSTO-ASRP supported sector at the Advanced Photon Source, which is located at the Argonne National Laboratory, Argonne USA.

Under the SCrAPS scheme, a visiting specialist crystallographer collects diffraction data for a number of co-applicants for ChemMatCARS beamtime. The collected data may be fully processed on site by the SCrAPS crystallographer, or subsequently distributed to other crystallographers for structure solution and refinement.

If you have crystals suitable for submission to the SCrAPS program, please fill in an application form:

SCrAPS Application Form : PDF Version
(Assumes Adobe Acrobat Reader 5 installed and configured to operate outside the browser.
Under Acrobat Edit/Preferences/General/Options uncheck 'Display PDF in Browser'.)

Publications arising from structures obtained through the SCrAPS scheme must include the following acknowledgement:

Acknowledgement: Use of the ChemMatCARS Sector 15 at the Advanced Photon Source, was supported by the Australian Synchrotron Research Program, which is funded by the Commonwealth of Australia under the Major National Research Facilities Program. ChemMatCARS Sector 15 is also supported by the National Science Foundation/Department of Energy under grant numbers CHE9522232 and CHE0087817 and by the Illinois board of higher education. The Advanced Photon Source is supported by the U.S. Department of Energy, Basic Energy Sciences, Office of Science, under Contract No. W-31-109-Eng-38.

The names of the crystallographers involved in the data collection and structure determination should also be included in the author list of a consequential publication.
